Valentine’s Day, also known as Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated on February 14th of every year. It is a day when people express their love and affection for one another, typically through the exchange of cards, flowers, and chocolates.

The history of Valentine’s Day is somewhat unclear, as there are several different stories and legends associated with it. One popular legend is that Valentine’s Day originated as a Christian holiday in honor of Saint Valentine, a third century Roman St. who was martyred for his faith.

According to one story St. Valentine was a priest who lived in Rome during the reign of emperor Claudius the 2nd. The emperor had banned marriage, believing that it made men weak and less effective soldiers, Saint Valentine, however, continued to perform marriages in secret, defying the emperor’s order. When he was caught, St. Valentine was in prison and eventually executed.

Another legend suggested Valentine’s Day is based on the ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia, which was celebrated in mid-February. During Lupercalia young men would draw the names of young women from a box, and the two would be paired up as romantic partners for the duration of the festival.

Over time, Valentine’s Day became associated with romantic love, and it eventually spread throughout Europe and eventually to the United States. Today, it is celebrated in many countries around the world, with various customs and traditions.

With snow on the ground and love in my heart; I am missing you.
With snow on the ground and love in my heart; I am wanting you.
With snow on the ground and love in my heart, I am grateful you are in my life.
Your body keeps me warm. Your humor keeps me laughing.
The things that are important to you, are also important to me.
With snow on the ground and love in my heart.
